Abstract

Forest land is land that formed under the influence of forest vegetation. Studying and observing the forest soil is very important, because it is one of the factors that affect plant growth. In this regard, the researcher intends to observe the chemical properties of soil (some soil nutrient) in secondary forest, sice this information is very important because it relates to plant growth, in addition to other soil properties, such as physical and biological properties of soil. The purpose of this study was to determine the concentration of the nutrient potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), natrium (Na), aluminium (Al) and soil organic (C) in the Forest of Education Faculty of Forestry in Mandiangin Unlam. From the results of this study will obtain information on the chemical properties of soil to be used in the framework of forest development in the future of education. Soil sampling conducted purposive saaampling of five observation pppoooints with a dept of 00 - 20 cm. Soil samples taken at each subsequent observation point composed, meaning one soil sample taken at some point with a distance of 1,0 meters, mixed and stirred evenly, then taken as + 1 kg to be analysed in the laboratory. The observed parameter is the concentration of elements K, Ca, Mg, Na, Al and C organic. To find out the status nutrients content, then the results of the analysis in the laboratory will be compared with the assessment criteria according to the Institute of Soil Chemical Properties Soil Research Center (LPPT) Bogor. The results showed concentrations of nutrient K (0,02 me/100 gr), Ca (1,13 me/100 gr), Mg (3,99 me/100 gr), Na (0,05 me/100 gr), Al (0,50 me/100 gr), and organic C ( 0,42 %). This situation shows all the nutrients were observed in forest soils Mandiangan education is very low, except for element of a high magnesium. Suggested giving the new fertilizer on crops grown locally and enrichment plants and other crops in order to ferlize the soil.
