Abstract

Soil fertility is the potential to provide nutrients in sufficient quantities in a form that is available and balanced to ensure maximum plant growth. Given the magnitude of forest functions and benefits of education Mandiangin degredasi one side and the process of land and forest illegal loging happens on the other hand, in order to reforestation or soil conservation efforts of this region need to be supported by data information, including soil fertility status, for this research was conducted. From the results of this study are expected to provide a material consideration in soil conservation or reforestation activities will be conducted by related agencies. The method used to determine the location of the observation point is determined by using purposive sampling. Disturbed soil samples taken from 5 points the observations made by the composite by about 1 kg, were then analyzed in the laboratory. Parameters observed cation exchange capacity (CEC), base saturation (KB); P2O5: K2O and organic C in soil. The results showed the level of soil fertility on a secondary forest in the forest of Education Faculty of Forestry Unlam Mandiangin generally still low. Soil conservation or reforestation activities should be done immediately, to improve and maintain soil fertility, either by biological / vegetative or with a civil engineering on land that has steep and hilly topography
