Abstract

Problem that often occur in society and always get serious attention from the local government is the problem of waste both organic and inorganic waste. One of this wastes the skin of the durian and the stem of oil palm. In order to reduce environmental pollution caused by waste, it is necessary for utilization of waste to be processed into useful products and high value, one of which is as raw material of cement particle board. What are the characteristics of physics and mechanics of cement particle board produced and the factors that can influence it need to be investigated first. The purpose of this research is to investigate the influence of the percentage of material that is mixed (stem of palm oil, durian skins and blend the two materials) to the physical properties (density, water content, water absorption and thickness development) and mechanical (bending strength, strength of fracture, thickness reduction due pressure) of cement particle board. Benefits of this research is to help the government solve organic waste. The results showed that the factor addition of particles and the amount of cement does not affect the physical properties and mechanics of cement particle board that produces, except to the strength broken.
