Abstract

Palm plant (Arenga pinnata Merr) is a plant with a million benefits because all its parts can be utilized. Cultivation the demand for these palm trees. One of the cultivation techniques is done by giving mulch dried eceng gondok and kayu apu at seedling level. In this study aims to determine the effect of giving mulch dried eceng gondok and kayu apu to the growth of palm seedlings. This research was conducted in January-July 2016 at Shade House Faculty of Forestry UNLAM Banjarbaru. And this study used a complete randomized design (RAL) with 4 treatments and 10 replications. With the treatment used was A0 = without treatment as control, A1 = dry mulch of eceng gondok (40 grams), A2 = dry mulch of kayu apu (40 grams) and A3 = dry mulch of eceng gondok and kayu apu (20 gram + 20 gram). Parameters used are the increasing number of leaves, leaf color and water content of plants. The results showed that dry mulching of eceng gondok and kayu apu only had significant effect on the increase of leaf number. The analysis of diversity on the increase of the number of leaves of aren seedlingsshowed F count greater than F table with the value of 4.47
